MPA hears from My Local Broker CEO Jaci Smith on their aggregation platform New Age Broker and how state-of-the-art technology sets it apart. 

When and why did you decide to add New Age Broker? 
The first iteration of My Local Broker launched in 2012 as a broker directory site. Although it was a successful model, with over 1,100 mortgage brokers signed up across Australia and generated a lot of business, it wasn’t a future proof idea. I knew the concept of My Local Broker could work but I need to make sure it wouldn’t become obsolete. This meant that I had to become an aggregator, thus New Age Broker was born.

What is different about New Age Broker? What does your new CRM system look like?
We offer what other aggregators offer, but our key point of difference is our software.

There have been a lot of false dawns on mortgage broking CRM “game changers” but the truth is all of them don’t address the real issue, which is the legacy systems on which they are built.  

All the available mortgage broking CRMs are built from outdated systems that aren’t conducive to new features, improvements or technological advancements. This is why brokers experience so many problems with the current CRM offerings.

Our broker platform is powered from BASE CRM, a powerful next-generation sales platform making waves in the US market. We’ve also liaised closely with NEXTGEN and worked backwards; our mortgage wizard is fully compatible so there is a seamless data flow and no data drop out. 

Unlike our competitors, Chief has an open API (Application Programming Interface) which means that there is room for further improvements and growth as new and exciting technology becomes available.

Another key feature is that Chief is Intuitive on all devices (phone, tablet and desktop) meaning brokers can spend more time on the road. Chief will change the industry.

How does your aggregation model work?
A listing on My Local Broker website can provide brokers with a strong online presence that will generate local leads. We’ve worked overtime on our SEO and Google indexing so brokers are easily accessible online. 

Our software will give brokers access to state of the art technology, not previously seen in the industry. Chief will simplify the way you do business and help you grow. 

Through our national recognised training program, Broker Draft, we can also service people looking to enter this dynamic and highly rewarding industry.

Our commission model is based on split commission

How does New Age Broker benefit the brokers who join? 
We estimate that we are roughly two years ahead of other aggregators in terms of technology. This head start, combined with our dedicated innovation team (led by Tyler Smith previously of Stragate) whose job it is to stay ahead will ensure we benefit brokers through technological advancements. 

How easy is it for brokers to switch aggregators?
We minimize business downtime as much as possible. Data migration is the biggest stumbling block for most aggregator but we’ve alleviated this through our onboarding process which is fully online.

Who is your ideal broker?
Our software is designed with one thing in mind – freeing up time. So our ideal broker is anyone who wants more hours in the day.

For those older generations who are paper reliant, our software is easy to use and streamlines the paperwork process. Our broker support team will even help you set up.

Our software is also compliance focused. Our fixed NCCP pipeline means a broker will never miss a step. From our point of view, it means we will have peace of mind in regards to our credit license.

What are your plans for the model in 2016?
We need to ensure we meet the expected demands in 2016. In fact, we have more than 100 brokers ready to sign up. The interest we are receiving thus far has been overwhelming and early signs suggest that we will hit our targets and once we do the industry will know we have arrived.
