1351 nominations, 25 awards - and only five weeks to go! The Australian Mortgage Awards are imminent, and MPA issue 14.10, on desks next week, showcases this year’s finalists. With such a high number of nominations, the calibre of those who made the finalists is higher than ever.

A new award for 2014

There is a new category this year: best non-major bank BDM. This was introduced to acknowledge the diversity of Australia’s banking sector, and the large numbers of talented BDMs. While we can’t give away the finalists here, the list features entrants from AMP, Citibank, Heritage, ING, Macquarie, ME and St George.

Back to town hall

This year the award returns to its spiritual home in the grand surroundings of Sydney’s Town Hall. Around 650 attendees will be entertained by host Michael Slater, musical act The Diamonds, and Boys in the Band. That’s not to mention the three course gourmet dinner and free-flowing drinks.

Awards on the night

You’ll notice that certain awards – for Australian BDM, Australian Brokerage, Australian Young Gun and Australian Broker – don’t have lists of finalists. That’s because they’re open only to winners of other awards. You can see which awards qualify in the magazine.

Finalists are listed in issue 14.10, hitting on desks on Monday. The AMAs are held on Friday 17 October – find out more here.
