Bank Australia announces new chief customer officer

Bank Australia had announced that Steve Odgers (pictured above) has been appointed to its executive team as its chief customer officer, a newly created role.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Steve to Bank Australia, and the significant experience he brings in driving end-to-end customer experience to our Executive team,” said Damien Walsh, managing director at Bank Australia.

“Bank Australia’s clear purpose, strong customer focus, and growth trajectory has made it one of the leading customer owned banks in the country, and one that I am very much looking forward to joining,” said Odgers.

Who is Steve Odgers?

Odgers is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management. He had also completed the Executive Program in Digitisation and Industrialisation at MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston.

Odgers had over 20 years at ANZ, where he held senior leadership roles across distribution, operations, strategy, technology, and transformation. His most recent stint was leading major transformation programs across ANZ’s retail and customer service operations teams.

“I’m excited by Bank Australia’s evolution and I’m motivated by the opportunity to help the bank deliver on its purpose and impact goals, and deliver great outcomes for customers,” said Odgers. “With a strong legacy to build off, Bank Australia is uniquely placed to deliver a great banking experience for customers and positive impact for people and the planet.”

Odgers will be responsible for leading Bank Australia’s customer service, retail distribution, retail operations and deposit, payments, and insurance products. He will also continue to be a member of the board of Thorne Harbour Health Ltd, where he currently has the role of director and chair of the finance, risk, and audit committee.

He is set to begin his role on 20 November.
