Broking franchise dishes up 3,000 meals to vulnerable Australians

Aussie Home Loans’s head office in Sydney recently donated more than 950 kg of food to over 23 charity agencies, totalling almost 3,000 meals served to vulnerable Australians.

The initiative marked the renewed partnership between Aussie and food rescue charity, OzHarvest, which extends until 2020. The new agreement follows the initial two-year partnership, which saw OzHarvest deliver more than a million meals to vulnerable Australians through corporate donations and fundraising projects by Aussie brokers and team members across the country.

“I am delighted that our team continues to be committed to enthusiastically helping OzHarvest, which puts much needed food directly in the hands of people who need it most at a grassroots and tangible level,” Aussie CEO James Symond said in a statement.

OzHarvest founder and CEO Ronni Kahn said he’s thrilled about the continued partnership with Aussie which will help OzHarvest achieve its vision “to create a world with zero food waste and free of hunger”.

Since the partnership began in 2016, hundreds of Aussie mortgage brokers and team members have taken part in a range of OzHarvest programs, including Christmas hamper drives and ‘Cooking for a Cause’, where Aussie’s corporate team created gourmet meals out of rescued food that went to charity agencies.
