Liberty commits to supporting women entering property market

Non-bank lender eager to "champion women in all their ventures"

Liberty commits to supporting women entering property market

As the number of female property owners continue to rise in Australia, non-bank lender Liberty has announced its commitment to supporting women who are keen to enter the property market on their own.

According to CoreLogic’s recent report on female property ownership, the percentage of independent women buyers increased from 27.4% in 2020 to 28.3% in 2021. In comparison, the portion of purchases made by men declined from 29.6% in 2020 to 28.7% in 2021.

Even as the gender pay gap in Australia rose by 0.4% to 13.8% in 2021, the number of women buying property on their own have inched closer to men, the CoreLogic report revealed.

Heidi Armstrong, head of consumer advocacy at Liberty, said the company is eager to apply its “free thinking approach and strong diversity and inclusion values” to see this trend continue.

“Our goal has always been to help more people… by providing free-thinking finance solutions to more people,” Armstrong said. “As a Work180 endorsed employer, the 2021 Women in Finance Employer of Choice, and sponsors of women’s sport in WBBL, AFLW and A-Leagues, we are proud to champion women in all their ventures.”

Armstrong added that Liberty is looking to grow the number of women in its network of brokers.

“Our Liberty Adviser network is currently 25% women - and growing,” she said. “We are very conscious of fostering strong women representation in the industry to help encourage and empower more women into their own homes.”
