NAB offers $1,000 grants to flood-affected customers in NSW

NAB has launched several financial relief measures for customers affected by flooding on the east coast of NSW, offering $1,000 disaster relief grants and other forms of assistance to those eligible.

Tony Story, NAB executive for retail in NSW and ACT, said these support measures were designed to alleviate the hardships faced by affected customers.

“To the NSW east coast families, communities and businesses who have suffered damage to their homes, farms and premises: we are here to help,” he said. “This will be a testing time for our communities and we’re standing by them, providing immediate assistance and making $1,000 grants available to help those most affected.”

The bank has identified several local government areas that are eligible for assistance, including Blue Mountains, Camden, Hawkesbury, Kiama, Liverpool, Penrith, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven, Sutherland, Upper Lachlan, Wingecarribee, Wollondilly, and Wollongong.

In his statement, Story also urged customers residing in these areas to reach out to NAB as soon as possible to take advantage of the offered support.

“NAB customers impacted in impacted local government areas are encouraged to contact us as soon as possible,” he said.

Other forms of support available to NSW customers

In addition to the disaster relief grants, NAB is offering the following support measures for flood-affected customers in NSW:

  • Deferring loan payments or arranging reduced repayment terms for home, personal, and some business loans

  • Hardship support for those struggling to meet minimum monthly repayments on personal loans, home loans, or credit cards, as well as the option to defer upcoming credit card payments

  • Waiving or refunding certain fees and charges, such as merchant terminal fees and early withdrawal fees for term deposits

NAB staff members who have had to evacuate their homes or who find themselves isolated from support services due to the flooding can also access funds to help with securing temporary accommodation and essential items.

Customers seeking more information or needing assistance are encouraged to visit NAB’s Natural Disaster Relief and Support page.

For those unable to access the internet, phone assistance is available at 1300 308 132 for individuals and 1300 769 650 for businesses.

NAB said its team will handle all inquiries and assess each case individually to determine eligibility. The offer for the disaster relief grants will remain open until April 23.
