Pepper Money's Insights Roadshow attracts record broker numbers

As Pepper Money nears the end of its 2017 Insights Roadshow, MPA hears from managing director, Australian Mortgages and Personal Loans, Mario Rehayem, on what it offers brokers this year.

How many registered attendees were there for the events? How has the Roadshow grown and developed in three years?
Following the huge success of 2016, this year’s Insights Roadshow received a record number of registered attendees. Last year, the Pepper Money roadshows attracted over 1,000 brokers across six cities, and registrations across the five cities this year were more than double that number.

With just Sydney to go [on 20 June] in 2017, we’ve already passed last year’s attendance figure. Clearly more brokers are realising they need to provide their clients with lending options outside of the big banks.

Can you provide details around what brokers get access to at the events?
The event will showcase Pepper’s exciting new tools, technologies, techniques and products specifically designed to allow a broker to help Australian families know what finance options are available to them.

Our Insights Roadshow is about arming brokers with the information required to help their customers know what lending options are available to them. We want to educate brokers about the alternative solutions available for their clients who may be credit impaired, self-employed or affected by serviceability changes.

The roadshow is an opportunity for us to connect with brokers across the country, an important aspect of Pepper’s education offering to the third-party channel. Furthermore, in each state, brokers will also have the opportunity to win $4,000 to spend on business coaching or a custom course of their choice with the Institute of Strategic Management!

For the first time, brokers will be given access to Andrew Paterson, Pepper’s head of credit, and be the first to experience the company’s new digital offering, set to help brokers provide more accurate and timely offerings for their clients.

Why is it important that brokers attend these events and connect with each other?
The lending landscape is continually evolving and it's vital for brokers to be prepared and educated so that they are able to capitalise on very opportunity that exists in the market. The Pepper Roadshows are designed to help brokers ensure that their customers are aware of their options. The Roadshows also contribute to the brokers' required MFAA & FBAA CPD points.

What are some of the broader developments happening in the specialist lending space right now?
With the bank’s credit appetite tightening every day, it’s more important than ever that brokers understand that there is an alternative lending solution for their customers.

What do you find is the biggest area where there is a lack of understanding amongst consumers looking for a loan?
Many consumers simply don’t know that there is an another way to get that loan. A major element of our roadshow is educating brokers about specialist lending so they can provide their client with those alternatives.
