Teachers Mutual Bank awards 10th scholarship for school principals

Teachers Mutual Bank has announced the recipient of this year’s Principals Scholarship at the Public Education Foundation Proudly Public 2023 Awards.

Daniel Rattigan (pictured above left), of Finigan School of Distance Education, is the 10th principal Teachers Mutual Bank has sent to Harvard throughout its decade-long partnership with not-for-profit Public Education Foundation.

The partnership provides an outstanding principal with the unique development opportunity to undertake a leadership program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education in the US.

“We’re extremely proud to partner with the Public Education Foundation to support this scholarship,” said Nichole Banks (pictured above right), Teachers Mutual Bank’s chief marketing officer.

“We have a long tradition of providing meaningful professional development opportunities for the education sector. The Teachers Mutual Bank Principals Scholarship creates a positive impact, not only on the recipients and their schools, but also on their broader communities.”

Rattigan stood out from a highly competitive field of principal applicants for his exceptional leadership qualities and dedication to improving education outcomes for all students who study by distance education.

The principal of Finigan School of Distance Education has also demonstrated a deep understanding of the unique challenges facing remote and distance education and has implemented innovative strategies to support his students and staff.

“I’m very humbled at being the 10th scholarship recipient that Teachers Mutual Bank has sponsored over the last ten years,” Rattigan said. “It’s such an exciting opportunity to make a difference at a higher level.”

Rattigan joins the rank of high-calibre principals who have received the Teachers Mutual Bank Principals Scholarship throughout the past decade and whose school communities have benefited from their participation in the world-leading program at Harvard.

“Teachers Mutual Bank is proud to support outstanding principals, like Daniel,” Banks said. “He is passionate about educational equity and is committed to empowering students from diverse backgrounds who are unable to attend school face-to-face. We congratulate him on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to learning about his experience at Harvard.”
