BC industry group elects head of historic all-women executive board

Deb White, of White House Mortgages in Vernon, has been elected to head the first all-women executive board of the Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association – British Columbia.

“I’m excited to lead this talented team of mortgage brokering professionals,” White said. “We’re dedicated to serving members and making a difference for mortgage brokers, homebuyers and homeowners across the province.”

The election of an all-women executive board was described by CMBA-BC as “an exciting milestone,” being its first ever all-women top-level team in its more than 30 years of operations.

“Women and men alike have worked hard to become successful mortgage brokering entrepreneurs and leaders, mentoring new and seasoned brokers and driving change to ensure consumers see the value in using a mortgage broker every time they need a mortgage,” CMBA-BC said.

White, who previously chaired the Vernon Winter Carnival Society, will be leading the board composed of vice president Marci Deane of North Vancouver, secretary Jane Wakelyn of Prince George, and treasurer Caroline Roach of Nanaimo. All four women are industry veterans who are looking to push CMBA-BC’s efforts to put gender equity on the forefront, the association said.

“They’re also all recognized by the industry and within their local BC communities for continually giving back to help make a difference where they work and live,” CMBA-BC said.
