Manulife Canada makes commitment to broker channel

Manulife bank announces the recent acquisition of one big bank’s former broker channel team.

The bank has hired Mark Squire, former assistant vice president with National Bank, to head its mortgage broker services division.

Along with Squire, Manulife has also hired six former National Bank mortgage specialists.

“Squire has become Manulife’s Bank Head of Mortgage Broker Services, and will lead the six-person group, which comes with extensive broker experience and knowledge that will benefit our broker partners and existing sales team,” a Manulife Bank rep told MortgageBrokerNews.ca in an email. “These hires follow the launch of Manulife Bank’s  Small Business Owner Program in December 2016, which works with small business owners that may not have the declared income needed to qualify for Manulife Bank’s flagship Manulife One product.”

Manulife entered the mortgage broker channel in March 2016 and this latest hire will be viewed as a major vote of confidence in the space from the bank.
