NZ Mortgages has struck a partnership with realestate.co.nz in a move that continues its goal to becoming a household name in mortgages.

Effective from May 15, NZ Mortgages will provide a range of tools on the property listings website, including a mortgage calculator, a live interest rates feed and a seven-day response service.

NZ Mortgages managing director and head of lending Nathan Miglani (pictured above), who recently hit $1 billion in home lending for the first time, described the partnership as “a big milestone” for his business, which has a goal to be the best in mortgages across New Zealand.

“Through the partnership, we’ll have the ability to provide services through the realestate.co.nz platform,” Miglani said.

The tagline “We bring the banks to you”, sums up the service, which allows realestate.co.nz visitors to check their mortgage calculations and view current bank interest rates at any time.

If people want further information, or to talk to someone, they can call the NZ Mortgages team seven days a week, using a dedicated 0800 number, Miglani said.

“Consumers can check interest rates on the go, calculations on the go – and talk to us on the go,” he said.

Miglani acknowledged that realestate.co.nz, which was established in 1996, was New Zealand’s longest standing property website, and that the values of the two businesses aligned.

Over the last few years, the platform had experienced an increasing number of visitors, which range from young single first home buyers, to retirees looking to buy an investment property, he said.

“They wanted to partner with someone who could provide strong, dedicated and tailored advice,” Miglani said.

Since moving away from the franchise model, which saw Miglani establish the NZ Mortgages brand, he said his business had invested heavily into making sure resources were available for customers, to make things easy for them.

“Our vision is to become a household name for mortgages in New Zealand … this is the first step to achieving that,” Miglani said. “We were heavily operating in Canterbury but now our focus for the next five years is Auckland.”
