Property investment service launches online rental yield calculator

Property investment service Opes Partners has launched an online rental yield calculator to show prospective property investors what their properties will really make (or cost) them each week.

Andrew Nicol, managing partner at Opes Partners, said there is renewed interest in property investment due to low-interest rates and the wealth that has been created by the country’s housing market. However, Nicol said that many New Zealanders are often unaware of the real costs of owning a rental property.

“While mum and dad investors generally have no trouble securing the deposit for an investment property, they usually trip up when it comes to cashflow,” he said. "Most investors, stop, sell early or don't hold their properties long enough to get the long-term benefits of owning property.”

The firm said that its online calculator allows investors to see the costs of actually owning a rental property, providing them with “smart assumptions” on the potential of their investment.

Property investors can access the calculator through the Opes Partners website.
