Melanie Evans joined ING Australia in 2017. She led the Retail Bank until her appointment as CEO in November 2020.  

As Head of Retail, Melanie was responsible for product, digital, innovation, marketing, sales, customer experience and service across the consumer and commercial segments. During her tenure she has led the diversification of the business as well as market share and main financial institution customer growth.  

Prior to ING, led business units across mortgages, transformation, and business banking at the Westpac Group. She also spent almost a decade in leadership roles at BT Financial Group.  

Outside her work responsibilities, Evans volunteers her time as an independent director on the Board of Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA). She also sits in the Board of the European Australian Business Council and Australian Banking Association. Melanie is an active member of Chief Executive Women and the Business Council of Australia.  Her educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance and marketing, a Master of Commerce degree in marketing, and Master of Professional Accounting degree, all from UNSW.
