Chief innovation officer for loanDepot, mellohome named

LoanDepot has announced that it appointed Jonathan Berkowitz as chief innovation officer of the company as well as its sister company mellohome.

Berkowitz will oversee product strategy and innovation at both companies. He will report to loanDepot CEO and founder Anthony Hsieh and mellohome CEO Chris Heller.

In his new role, Berkowitz will partner with executive leaders and teams across companies, channels, and verticals to enhance market presence, differentiation, and innovation across all enterprise consumer platforms and technology touchpoints.

Berkowitz will also collaborate closely with the companies' technologists and executive technology team at the recently launched mello Innovation Lab. He will be based in loanDepot's Southern California headquarters.

With 20 years of leadership experience in enterprise and consumer product strategies, Berkowitz has served at companies ranging from entrepreneurial start-ups to Fortune 50 enterprises. Most recently, he served as chief product officer at Aurea, an ESW Capital company. Berkowitz also has ties to the real estate industry, having overseen product and strategy at global real estate company Keller Williams in 2017.

"I'm thrilled to join the loanDepot and mellohome team," Berkowitz said. "My experience working with Chris Heller at Keller Williams convinces me he has great instincts for how technology is going to transform the real estate industry. He has the genetic code to change the dynamics of our industry in a dramatic way, and that's a vision I share."
