Michelle Oroschakoff, managing editor and chief risk officer of LPL Financial, has expanded her role as the company’s chief legal and risk officer, according to a news release.

Oroschakoff’s new duties will include overseeing LPL’s legal and government functions, and she will remain in the San Diego office.

She joined the independent broker-dealer firm in 2013 after serving as the global chief risk officer of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, and has a J.D. degree from the University of Michigan.

“During her four years at LPL, Michelle’s leadership has had a transformative effect not only on our governance, risk and compliance functions but also on the culture of risk management across the firm,” said Dan Arnold, LPL president and CEO. “She has a proven ability to work cross-functionally to achieve outcomes in the best interest of investors, advisors and the company, all while managing through a tremendous amount of change in the regulatory environment.”
