Radian Group appoints new mortgage insurance leader

Radian Group has promoted Derek Brummer to senior executive vice president of mortgage insurance and risk services, a newly created position.

The company also named Eric Ray senior executive vice president for technology and transaction services, also a newly created role. The announcement follows the appointment by Radian of senior relationship managers for specific industry segments earlier in February.

“As we position our company for the future, I believe that expanding Derek’s role and welcoming Eric to the Radian team will help drive our success,” CEO Rick Thornberry said. “We have an established leadership position with our large, high-quality mortgage insurance portfolio and have made tremendous progress in refocusing our mortgage and real estate services businesses.”

In his new role, Brummer will lead the team responsible for all mortgage insurance, credit-risk products, and operations. He will also continue to be responsible for credit-risk-management strategy and policy. Brummer joined the company in 2002 and has served as chief risk officer since 2013.

Meanwhile, Ray will be responsible for a strategic transformation of the company’s mortgage and real estate services businesses. He will also provide the overall vision and leadership for Radian’s information technology functions enterprise-wide. Ray brings more than 30 years of technology sector experience to the role. Before joining Radian, he was general manager of global technology services at IBM.
